KIDS AND THEIR FUTURE PROGRAM
KIDS AND THEIR FUTURE (KATF), the educational outreach program supported by the Country Club members, has existed since 2001. Its succinct mission statement defines the goal and parameters of the program:
THE KATF FUND EXISTS TO HELP THE EMPLOYEES OF THE COUNTRY CLUB DE CHAPALA PAY FOR THEIR CHILDRENíS EDUCATIONAL EXPENSES.
Those educational expenses include tuition, materials and supplies, and testing. The fund also pays for a part of transportation costs for those students attending school outside of their communities. Support is provided from kinder through university level. Attendance and academic achievement are monitored; parents are reimbursed upon presenting receipts and school records. The average number of students in the program is between 35 and 45 as it does change in any given semester.
KATF not only supports students on traditional educational trajectories but also pays for those in technical programs and training for other careers.
The fund is sustained by two sources, a voluntary contribution from members as a part of their monthly membership payment and by revenue generated by the Amigo Cup, an annual intra-club fund raising golf tournament.
The KATF Committee is proud of the programís success. Our students stay in school and many have completed university degrees. Our recent graduates include accountants, teachers, computer technicians, a veterinarian, a tourism official, a chef, and an airline employee.
