Members of the Board of Directors

Jaime F Castillo

Chairman

I was born in the city of Guadalajara 62 years ago, I am a surgeon from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara with a specialty in Orthopedics and Traumatology in the IMSS for 33 years, my public and private professional practice is carried out in the city of Ocotlán, Jalisco. Currently only in private practice since I met the requirements for retirement in the IMSS 8 years ago, where I held various positions in chiefs of surgery and education during the last 20 years of institutional work.

I got to know the world of golf when I came to live in Ocotlán, when I joined the Celanese company club, a club that at that time had an exchange of members with the Chapala country club, so for more than 30 years I knew this beautiful golf course and always dreamed of becoming a member, which I achieved when I had the opportunity to come and play here with a group of friends. My sporting passion is golf and now that I am a member of the CCC and soon also a resident of Vista del Lago, I am very interested that this club becomes a better golf course every day and if in the future we could grow to 18 holes, be prepared to do so, thinking of future generations. It is time for us, the Mexican members, to get involved in the decision making for the improvements and good functioning of our club and, of course, to team up with all the members, always thinking about how we can improve our club and enjoy the sport that we are all passionate about.

Monica Powers

Membership Director

I was born in Córdoba, Argentina and married the handsome Young Larry in 1984, and voila, I became a Canadian.  I am a proud mother of two and I also have one granddaughter.

From the moment I landed in Canada, my life became an adventure, following Larry from Toronto to Vancouver and then to Romania, South Korea, China, and The United Arab Emirates.

In each of these different countries I encountered so many different people, learned their culture, their customs, and tried very hard at speaking their language. Today I can still manage a little Romanian.

After 25 years of trotting around the globe we came to Mexico and decided that this would be our place to retire. For Larry, his dream was to be able to play golf. For me, it was another place to explore and learn. But this time I didn’t have to learn a new language since my mother tongue is Spanish.  And like in the other place I have lived before I have made lots of friends, got involved in some charity works and also learned to quilt, thanks to my friend Jenny.

I love to cook and bake, organize parties, host dinners, play cards, and sometimes play golf too. Two years ago I decided to give Real Estate a try and registered for the national certification courses to become licensed. I joined the local and state organizations and I stay abreast of developments affecting our area. I have already managed to list some properties and sell two.

I am an outgoing, positive personality and I love to chat and visit with people. Also as I mentioned I am bi-lingual which is a huge advantage in this environment. I get a lot of personal fulfillment from helping people in any way they need help and I find that I learn something new everyday from the people I meet.  I feel like I can represent the Country Club de Chapala proudly as a member who lives on the golf course and has lived in Vista Del Lago for over 17 years.
