Scholarship Program for caddies and club employees

Scholarship Program, the educational outreach program supported by Country Club members, has been in existence since 2001. Its brief mission statement defines the goal and parameters of the program:

The fund is supported in two ways, a voluntary contribution from members as part of their monthly membership dues and by the income generated by the Copa Amigo tournament, an annual fundraising golf tournament.

These educational expenses include registration, materials, and exams. The fund is also used to pay a portion of transportation costs for students attending school outside their communities. Support is provided from kindergarten to university level. Attendance and academic achievement are monitored; parents are reimbursed upon presentation of receipts and school records.

The average number of students in the program is between 35 and 45, as it changes in a given semester.

The scholarship program

It not only supports students in traditional educational pathways, but also supports those in technical programs and training for other careers.

The fund is supported by two sources, a voluntary contribution from members as part of their monthly membership fee and by income generated by the Copa Amigo tournament, an annual fundraising golf tournament.

The Scholarship Program Committee is proud of the success of the program. Our students remain in school and many have completed university degrees. Our recent graduates include careers such as accountants, teachers, computer technicians, a veterinarian, a tourism officer, a chef and an airline employee.

The committee is comprised of: Mike Garvey, Marilyn Edwards, Brenda Clarke, Keith and Arleen Foster.
